Mediterranean Cuisine: My Favourite Meals

Mediterranean cuisine is basically the different food and the style of cooking that is indigenous to the people that reside in the Mediterranean Basin region and unlike other cuisines around the world, it is not exclusive to a particular culture or ethnic group. Thus, it is normal to see different culinary traditions across the region and I, Rania Dalloul, have experienced quite a lot of them, which I’m going to share with you.
While there are a quite a lot of ingredients that make up the traditional Mediterranean, there are some ingredients that are a mainstay and these are wheat, olive, grape, bread, wine and of course pasta. These are some of the ingredients that you would always find in the kitchen of a true Mediterranean family. And in this piece, I’ll take you through some of the best meal that makes up cooking in this lovely part of the world.

Easy Seafood Paella

This is in one of the easiest Mediterranean meals to cook because you don't even need a paella pan to make this. There are a lot of different ingredients that can be used to make a seafood paella but personally, I prefer using shrimp and lobster to make mine and the taste is just great.

Cilantro Lime Chicken

One of the reasons why I have this cuisine on my list is because the taste is out of this world. I make this with the best of Mediterranean spices alongside garlic and fresh cilantro. Then I roast it with juicy lime broth to make it taste even better.

Baked Sole Fillet

If you are on a tight schedule then the baked sole fillet is the most convenient healthy meal to make because it only takes 30 minutes to make.
You can get this ready using a lime, butter and olive oil. It would also taste better if you add some green onions and capers to the flavour alongside salad and rice.

Fattoush Salad

There is no Mediterranean dish list that won't have the Fattoush salad on it and the reason is not too far fetched. Its taste is just heavenly and there is no Middle Eastern home that you won't find this meal.
You can make this with chopped salad and toasted pita.

Baked Brie with Figs, Walnuts and Pistachios

When it comes to appetizer the Baked Brie with Figs, Walnuts and Pistachios is too on the list. It takes just 15 minutes to make and all you have to do is to cover your Brie with honey or fig jam alongside nuts and dried fruits.

Roasted Greek Potatoes

I love the roasted Greek Potatoes and it is one of my best side dishes.
This is one of my favourite side dishes that go with almost any Mediterranean entree. A couple of secret ingredients take it to the top.
These are just some of the amazing meals that make up the Mediterranean cuisine and over the years, I have had the privilege of eating these and some many other local Mediterranean dishes that are way too many to mention. So whenever you come across a traditional Mediterranean family or restaurant, get ready to have your taste bud excited and satisfied.
